Abstract

In the 1920s a group of philosophers and logicians formed the Vienna Circle. They held that a statement means nothing unless it can be verified. The AI industry has inherited the opposite habit. Models are described as accurate, capable, and able to reason, often with little to no evaluation behind the claims.

Capability is built by the data a model was post-trained on and the infrastructure that ran it at scale. It is measured by expert human evaluation. Those three decide whether agents, enterprise deployments, and training environments work.

A hundred years later, we keep the standard set in Vienna. A claim about a model means nothing until someone has rigorously verified it.
